Catherine Hicks was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is graduated of Cornell University. She celebrates her birthday on August 6.
She began her career on daytime television in the critically acclaimed soap opera Ryan's Hope. She has also appeared as a regular on several other television series, including in a co-starring role in another Aaron Spelling production, Winnetka Road.
In 1981, Hicks was nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as Marilyn Monroe in Marilyn: The Untold Story. And, like her 7th Heaven co-star Stephen Collins, Hicks has a Star Trek connection. She played a pivotal role as a scientist in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, opposite William Shatner's Captain Kirk.
More recently, Hicks appeared with Lauren Holly and Ray Liotta in the action film Turbulence.
