Annie Camden relented to Simon's constant urging and brought a dog home from the pound. Simon named his dog Happy.
Everyone thought Simon would settle down now that he had a pet of his own. There were still a few surprises in store for the family, however.
Happy the dog became Happy the mother when she unexpectedly had a litter of adorable puppies. And poor Happy narrowly avoided death when she ran away from the Camden home.
The Camdens also discovered that Happy had lived with another family before them. Though Happy's previous owners wanted her back, they changed their minds when they saw how much the dog was loved by all teh members of the Camden family-especially Simon.
Happy the dog is played by HAPPY, a thirty-pound mixed terrier, who was rescued in real life from a California dog pound by animal trainer Shawn Webber.
After some higher education at Boone's Animals for Hollywood, Happy auditioned for the role of the Camdens' lovable pet-and quickly beat out the competition.
7th Heaven is Happy's first Hollywood role.
